We were all delighted to see the warm sunshine to kickstart the summer season. The Student Council did a fantastic job organising sport's stations for everybody to enjoy. We had lots of fun!A huge congratulations to the girls from 5th and 6th class today who won the FAI County Finals. They now move on to represent Cavan in the Ulster Finals.
A great day for all involved!!! Since the beginning of the new school year the STEAMroom has been gradually getting back into action. Many of the resources have been updated, shelves and storage areas have been cleaned and sorted. The most recent addition to the room is a new activity/group work bench, which came in handy when sorting our new K'Nex equipment kindly supplied by Aine Lynch and her company Thermo Fisher!! May the teamwork and building commence :) Children from all classes were given a day they will never forget by one of the parents in our school. As part of Science week 2024 and her work with Thermo Fisher Scientific, Áine Lynch lead and facilitated a number of Science experiments with all the children in the school. Hands on learning at it's best!! Big thanks from us all Áine. Children and teachers from Corliss NS, Bruskey NS and Scoil Mhuire, Lacken NS enjoyed the Amber Programme workshop with Máiread Holden during Science Week.
Parents of children intending to start school in Scoil Mhuire Lacken in September 2021 are requested to email the following information to [email protected] on or before Friday 12th of February 2021.
Best regards & hope you and families are safe and well. A O' Neill Dear Parent’s/ Guardians,
A very big thank you for your fantastic efforts in working alongside the Teachers, Sna’s and Pupils since the re-commencement of our online learning two weeks ago. The response and engagement from families has been outstanding. We as teachers are aware of the challenges society is facing presently, however despite this the parent & student body of Scoil Mhuire Lacken prevailed with very high engagement numbers in each of the online classrooms on a daily basis. The content of the work being returned to teachers is evident of the hard work and high standards of our pupils in Scoil Mhuire. Resulting from this, teachers have added a fun and engaging aspect to their online classrooms, with visual storybooks being read aloud by class teachers, classroom challenges, STEAM Projects, Lego challenges, History/ Geography projects & exciting PE/ Art activities. Well done to our teachers, Sna's and pupils for embracing this period of remote learning. During Remote Learning - classes came together on Zoom.
Some of our students engaged in Zoom calls with their class teachers & peers this week. It was a very positive experience for both the staff & children as this enabled them to interact and engage with other over this virtual platform. Lots of fun has had my all! Many thanks to all families who facilitated this with the children. We look forward to this weekly zoom call during the course of our remote learning/ teaching. Our First Virtual AssemblyOn Thursday 19th November we held our first virtual assembly via Zoom. It was lovely to gather together virtually and celebrate the hardworking boys and girls in Scoil Mhuire. We had awards for behaviour, handwriting and Gaeilgeoir na Seachtaine. Well done to all the winners!
