From the end of September 2020, Children from 3rd to 6th class, will begin to use Google Classroom in completing some homework tasks each evening! Our Covid- 19 Response Plan states that we are reducing the amount of books/materials between school and home. The staff of Scoil Mhuire, feel that this online platform will provide a useful opportunity for children to engage in reinforcement tasks for homework
During the School closures the children embraced the opportunity of learning new skills on this online platform. Below are a series of videos, with thanks to Google for Education which will provide additional support to parents/ children if they are experiencing difficulty with navigating around the google classroom. From the start of this academic year teachers and children have worked exceptionally hard in our STEAM room each day, exploring all the skills needed to begin our new online journey in doing our homework online. We are all looking forward to this new adventure!! :) This Short Video from Google for Education is an excellent recap for the children on signing into their Google classroom account. Each children in the school has been assigned a username as part of our school domain e.g XXXXXX@lackennationalschool.com All of the children have created unique passwords for access to our Google classroom. Please Check out this short Video on signing in! Once you have logged into your Gmail account the next step is accessing the Google Classroom. This short video from Google for Education is an excellent resource for explaining this step very clearly. Once you are logged into the classroom . There are various tabs such as Stream, Classwork, People & Grades. Check out this video to find out the difference. When submitting an assignment on Google classroom it is called "Turning in Assignments". The video below explains it all. |
