School Achievements Over Recent Years
5th and 6th class pupils of Scoil Mhuire Lacken participated in The Junior Entrepeneur programme. The Junior Entrepreneur Programme (JEP) is a 10 - 16 week entrepreneurial education programme for Primary School pupils. This encourages the children to set up their own business and sell a product to the public.

Lacken National School successfully completed the Digital Schools of Distinction award, a 3 step programme accredited by the Dept. of Education, that aims to promote, recognise and encourage excellence in the use of technology in Primary schools.

During the European Week of Code , the children in 3rd, 4th, 5th and 6th classes took part in a "Robot Hack Day' with the help of the guys from Colmacrobotics. This event was supported with grant from Google.

Scoil Mhuire Lacken has earned the title of becoming an Active School. An Active School is a school that strives to achieve a physically educated and physically active school community through improvements across P.E, Physical activity and Patnreship, that will have a real and tangible impact on their school community.

Scoil Mhuire lacken is proud to have four Green School flags which were awarded by An Taisce. The Green-Schools, programme is known internationally as Eco-Schools. This is an international environmental education programme, environmental management system and award scheme that promotes and acknowledges long-term, whole school action for the environment.

The Discover Primary Science and Maths Programme (DPSM) is part of Science Foundation Ireland's (SFI) Discover Programme, which aims to increase interest in Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics (STEM) among students, teachers and members of the public. Lacken National School participates in this programme every 2 years.

One of our fourth class students entered a weekly challenge in association with Coding Ireland and became a national winner in creating A Scratch Paddle Ball Game. Head over to our STEAM Section to play the game.
