We have been utilising our fabulous STEAM room and using Chrome books to do research for projects. The children really enjoy working in pairs and researching together. Each group were given a county of Ireland to research. Children explored this county in detail regarding its population, main rivers and mountains and tourist destinations and presented it to the class. 3rd and 4th enjoyed making their St Brigid's crosses. The children brought in their own rushes and we worked in two's to help each other make them. We asked Fr Sean to come in and bless them and then children brought them home. We have been extremely fortune to have a very talented artist come to the school to work with all children. 3rd and 4th class children really enjoyed the entire process, from making "Jelly Prints" to creating their own unique artwork. Children were encouraged to chose all their own prints, colour and theme. It was amazing to watch all the kids get creative all the while having so much fun!The Lucky Horseshoe coffee trailer came to Scoil Mhuire as a treat on Friday 19th of January! 3rd and 4th class children really enjoyed their delicious hot chocolates with marshmallows! 3rd and 4th class children were festive for the Christmas Carol Service and enjoyed performing the Grinch for everyone. Well done boys and girls you are all superstars! I am delighted to welcome our new 3rd and 4th class to my classroom for our new school year. Over the last few weeks we have been doing lots of great Art activities. From colour wheels of household objects, making our names with items from home to drawing and designing. Take a look at some of our recent Google Classroom Art activities In our online classroom we have been busy learning about Japan and Japanese legends. We decided to try and write Japanese poetry, a particular poem called Haiku. Have a look at some of our results. As part of our online learning for the month of January we had loads of fun challenges. One of the most successful of these challenges was our Lego Challenge.
