We have finally finished our designs and tested our prototypes. Have a look at all our hard work in our presentations about each of our ideas. On Wednesday of last week, we were very excited to have the opportunity to chat to real life engineer and ask him some questions. Our engineer that was assigned to us, was Matthew a masters student in UCD, studying civil engineering. Matthew chatted to us about his work, designs and job. The children had some really good questions for Matthew at the end and were thrilled with his feedback on our prototypes. He said he was blown away by the designs, coding and detailed planning that the children had put into their prototypes.
!For the past few weeks we have been busy planning, collaborating, designing, making and building our prototypes, for our STEPS engineering projects. Have a look at us at work!
Over the past few weeks, 3rd and 4th class have been busy participating in the STEPS young engineers award programme. The Engineers Ireland STEPS Programme is a non-profit outreach programme that promotes interest and awareness of engineering as a future career. The STEPS Young Engineers Award 2020 is a competition that asks 3rd and 4th class students all over the country to design an engineering project that would help their community. We look forward to sharing our ideas and designs over the coming weeks. Here in 3rd and 4th class we have been busy getting ready for Halloween. We have been super excited to be doing lots of Halloween Art, writing, poetry and songs. Here is some of our recent Halloween Art .
We also had a Halloween party on the last day of school before our Halloween break. We dressed up as some spooky characters. See if you can spot some familiar faces. Well done to the boys and girls in 3rd class who made their first Holy Communion on Saturday last, October 3rd 2020. A big thank you to our principal, Ms O'Neill, Ms Walsh and Ms Nannery, who helped in their preparation, Ms Fitzpatrick and Fr Sean who made the day so special.
A massive Welcome back to all the boys and girls in 3rd and 4th class. We were delighted to see Lacken Ladies win the county senior championship and here we are out showing our support for them! We are already looking forward to the rest of the year.
We were very excited this week to hold a series of Virtual Sports days. There were even some suprise messages and challenges from some famous faces along the way. Well done to all the boys and girls who sent in some pictures and videos of them and their families partaking in our sports challenges. 3rd and 4th class we’re challenged to The Getty Art Challenge where they had to recreate famous paintings in a pictorial form. They could use anything they wanted. Here are the results. We made up this video to say goodbye to 6th class, as we didn't get a chance to in person. We hope you enjoy..... |
