We have finally finished our designs and tested our prototypes. Have a look at all our hard work in our presentations about each of our ideas. On Wednesday of last week, we were very excited to have the opportunity to chat to real life engineer and ask him some questions. Our engineer that was assigned to us, was Matthew a masters student in UCD, studying civil engineering. Matthew chatted to us about his work, designs and job. The children had some really good questions for Matthew at the end and were thrilled with his feedback on our prototypes. He said he was blown away by the designs, coding and detailed planning that the children had put into their prototypes.
!For the past few weeks we have been busy planning, collaborating, designing, making and building our prototypes, for our STEPS engineering projects. Have a look at us at work!
Over the past few weeks, 3rd and 4th class have been busy participating in the STEPS young engineers award programme. The Engineers Ireland STEPS Programme is a non-profit outreach programme that promotes interest and awareness of engineering as a future career. The STEPS Young Engineers Award 2020 is a competition that asks 3rd and 4th class students all over the country to design an engineering project that would help their community. We look forward to sharing our ideas and designs over the coming weeks. |
