As part of our quest for our 5th Greenflag on biodiversity we had an Action day last Friday. First and second classes were learning all about birds and decided to make some
Bird feeders to hang outside. Here we are putting them outside near our newly constructed biodiversity garden area. We are feeling very lucky to have been awarded Creative Schools this year. As part of this initiative with the Arts Council Ireland we have access to creative professionals who come in and workshop fun arts projects and ideas. Here we are with Mary workshopping some dance and drama techniques.
In first and second class we work hard daily on our Mental
maths skills. It’s an important part of our daily schedule. Here we are today playing “The daily 10” a quiz style mental maths game which gets stimulated and reinforces our Maths skills and concepts. On Christmas week we had a very special surprise visit from Santa and Mrs Claus. They even brought their pet dog the whole way from the North Pole to visit all the wonderful boys and girls in Lacken National school. We gave them a great welcome and hope they make it back safely to
The North Pole in time to deliver all the toys on Christmas eve For a few weeks before Christmas the whole country was transformed into a frosty white winter wonderland. Here we are getting some fresh air and exercise out on our track around the pitch.
