STEAM explores Science, Technology,  Engineering, Arts and Maths and encourages children to develop critical thinking and analysis, skills which are fundamental to their future learning and development.  STEAM aims to  foster a recognition and understanding of the intersection of  Science, Technology, Engineering,  Arts and Maths.
Here in  Scoil Mhuire Lacken, we aim to  provide children from Junior Infants, not only with traditional and proven  methods of  Education but through their exposure to  STEAM.  We also  aim  to provide the foundations for life long learning, a thirst  for  curiosity for understanding and innovation and to encourage children to  explore creative thinking, digital  literacy, computational  thinking  and problem solving. Skills that  will form the   foundation of their education from  childhood and extend and expand into life long learning and  personal  development.
STEAM  education involves hands on learning while using the  most  update  technology.
Our Primary school Curriculum offers a plethora of opportunities to integrate STEAM into our daily Educational activities. We integrate STEAM into our curriculum,  on a  weekly basis, as  each  class is allocated a time to  engage in STEAM Activities.

Our STEAM room is  equipped with:

 A Maker space  Area
  • Educational  Minecraft activities
  • Scratch
  • Bloxels
  • Lego/  Lego  We Do
  • Little  Bits
  • Bee-  Bots
Children  enjoy  participating  and  rotating  around  the   above stations throughout the school  year.
We look forward to keeping you updated on our various  STEAM  activities.
